Ty at Saturday in the Park

Managing editor Ty Rushing dressed appropriately for Saturday in the Park 2016.

I’m looking forward to hanging out in Sioux City tomorrow (Saturday, July 6) for the 29th-anniversary edition of Saturday in the Park.

I’ve only been in this region of the state for a few years, so my SITP experiences are far more limited than some of my fellow festival lovers such as the Huff family of Ashton — I’m still kicking myself for missing Aretha Franklin in 2015 — but the times I’ve gone it’s been awesome.

This show is free — we love free around these parts — and it’s an all-day event that has something for everyone, which is evident since the organizers of the massive outdoor festival estimate it draws 20,000-30,000 people annually.

It's always held around the Fourth of July and some people (It’s me; I’m some people) like to dress up for the occasion.

There will also be numerous food vendors including La Jaunita's — you should know how I feel about tacos by now — and free water bottle refilling stations.

So if you are interested in having some free fun, peep the lineup below and plan accordingly:
