My favorite time of the year is here: Football is back!
The 150th season of college football has started, and that means my Nebraska Cornhuskers are back on the gridiron.
I grew up in Omaha, NE, and went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, so I bleed Husker red and wear Husker red quite often on weekends.
I'm happy to know there are other Husker fans in N'West Iowa, where I'm surrounded by fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones.
Nebraska's 4-2 finish to last season after starting 0-6 gives me optimism about this year, but the Huskers' sloppy win Saturday, Aug. 31, was a bit disappointing.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy Nebraska won, but I expected a better performance against a team like South Alabama.
The Huskers, especially their offense, better show up Saturday, Sept. 7, when they play on the road against the Colorado Buffaloes.
It's still strange to me that Nebraska-Colorado is a Big Ten vs. Pac-12 match-up these days because they were longtime league opponents in the Big Eight and Big 12.
Regardless, I'll be wearing my Husker red as I cheer loudly and proudly for my favorite college football team this season and yell, "Go Big Red!"
