SIOUX CENTER—The Dordt University baseball team has announced its signing class for the 2020-21 academic year.

• Benjamin Baker, a catcher and outfielder from Central Technical School in Toronto, Canada, was his team’s most valuable player in 2016 and 2017.

• Matthew Bokhoven, a pitcher and infielder from Pella Christian High School, helped the Eagles win the 2019 district championship.

• Michael Bruell, a pitcher from Plano High School in Plano, TX, earned all-conference honors in 2019 after finishing with an earned run average of 2.40.

• Nolan Christianson, a shortstop and center fielder from Omaha Burke High School in Nebraska, had a .332 batting average with 25 RBIs, 15 stolen bases and one homer.

• Kolt Davis, a pitcher from Johnson-Brock High School in Johnson, NE, had 74 strikeouts in 2019 and a 5-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio while earning all-state honorable mention.

• Austin Degen, from Ridge View High School in Holstein, finished his senior season with a .391 batting average while earning all-state second-team honors.

• Chaz Gothard, a first baseman and left-handed pitcher who played for FCA Loganville in Loganville, GA, posted an ERA of 3.11 while offensively recording a .560 batting average and earned all-state honors in 2019.

• Nicholas Gravel, a pitcher from Sidney High School in Sidney, NY, had a 1.46 ERA in 14 appearances with 86 strikeouts and 16 walks.

• Charlie Hennessy, a catcher from Olympic High School in Bremerton, WA, had a .317 batting average.

• Connor Hommes, an infielder from Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, CO, had a .375 batting average with 24 doubles, seven homers and 52 RBIs.

• Trevor Jackson, a catcher from Broomfield High School in Broomfield, CO, posted a .415 batting average and threw out nine runners defensively.

• Derek LaBounty is a pitcher and catcher from Florence High School in Florence, TX.

• Andrew Lofgren, an infielder from Lincoln Lutheran High School in Lincoln, NE, earned all-conference honorable mention after finishing with a .310 batting average and six doubles.

• Sam McCauley, an infielder and pitcher from Baker High School in Baker City, OR, posted a .441 batting average, an ERA of 1.74 and earned all-conference first-team honors as a pitcher.

• Spencer Miller, from Smithville High School in Smithville, MO, had a .357 batting average with four doubles and 19 RBIs as a lead off hitter.

• Chance Mitchell, a utility player from Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington, TX, plays every position on defense except first base and was an all-district first-team selection as a utility player.

• Luke Moustis, from Gilbert, AZ, played first and third base for Williams Field High School.

• Nathan Patterson, from Phoenix, played first base, third base and pitcher at Horizon Honors Secondary School.

• Matthew Poling, a pitcher from Clinton High School in Clinton, MO, had an ERA of 2.90.

• Cardiff Smith, a pitcher from Mammoth High School in Mammoth Lakes, CA, earned all-league honorable mention as a junior.

• Brock Spade, from Hamilton High School in Chandler, AZ, played pitcher, catcher, first base and right field in high school.

• Dylan Stanley, from Timber Creek High School in Orlando, FL, had a .273 batting average and was part of a state runner-up team in 2018.

• Matthew Tiersma, a pitcher from Nampa Christian High School in Nampa, ID, posted a 2.47 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched in 2019 while being a pair of state title teams in 2017 and 2018.

• Zach Van Essen of Sheldon, a senior at Western Christian High School, recorded a .284 batting average with four doubles and eight stolen bases while striking out 23 batters over 27 innings on the mound.

• Nick Yeager, a pitcher from Canton High School in Canton Township, MI, tossed 51 2/3 innings and fanned 57 batters while posting a 6-1 record and a 0.95 ERA.
