Digging at new Sioux Center High School

A lot of dirt work has already begun at the site of the future Sioux Center High School.

SIOUX CENTER—The Sioux Center School District is inviting members of the public to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for their new high school building construction project.

The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. Aug. 14. It will be held at the southwest corner of the construction site, which is at the former Sioux Speedway racetrack just north of the Sioux County Youth Fair.

According to school district superintendent Gary McEldowney, visitors can park in the All Seasons Center parking lot and walk to the ceremony site using the bike trail.

There will be a few speeches prior to the ceremonial groundbreaking.

In attendance will be Sioux Center mayor Dave Krahling,

A lot of digging has already occurred at the site. In the last week, construction crews began digging down to create space for the school's gym, which will be partially below ground once work on it is done.
