SIOUX CENTER—The Sioux Center Fire Department responded to two calls within an hour of each other at the same location Saturday.
The first call at 3:28 p.m. to 3338 430th St., Orange City, the home of Dr. Arnie and Cheryl Beukelman, was for a controlled fire in a grove than became uncontrolled, according to Sioux Center Fire Department Fire captain Kelli Willet.
She estimated about half an acre burned, and the department was on scene for less than a half hour.
Another call from the same location came at 4:37 p.m.
“It appeared that, without any of us realizing it, an ember had gotten into the attic of a nearby structure,” Willet said. “There was some smoke and a rafter burned, but the building is repairable.”
The fire department was on scene for about an hour.
