Pottebaum & Van Bruggen

Corey Pottebauma nd Todd Van Bruggen have moved their business, Pottebaum & Van Bruggen Certified Public Accountants, to a new building. The business was formerly named Siebrecht & Co.

SIOUX CENTER—Pottebaum & Van Bruggen Certified Public Accountants might be new names among the businesses in Sioux Center, but it’s still the same business that’s made Sioux Center its home since the 1980s.

Formerly known as Siebrecht & Co., PC, the company began under Myron Siebrecht and has neighbored the Sinclair gas station in Sioux Center. A move to 51 St. Andrew’s Way on the south of town gave the company the opportunity to implement a new name featuring current business partners Corey Pottebaum and Todd Van Bruggen.

The primary motivator for the move was because they wanted to have more room for their eight permanent employees, as things had gotten more cramped in the previous building, especially when three temporary employees assist during tax season.

More parking was also needed for the company’s employees and clients.

Discussions about a new building began in October 2018.

“We’ve wanted to do this for a while, but that October is when we started exploring the possibility,” Pottebaum said.

They put the deposit on the lot later that month and closed on the lot in the summer of 2019, breaking ground at the start of July.

They moved into the new location Nov. 8 and began operating out of the new 3,950-square-foot building Nov. 11.

With the new facility, the company has a new conference room and 10 offices with enough room for another five people. There is also a dedicated break room and kitchen, which they didn’t have before.

More technology has been incorporated into the building, too, such as TV screens employees can use to show clients

Pottebaum said the move has been great for morale.

“Everybody’s excited. We’ve been able to recruit another employee already since we moved, which helps,” Pottebaum said. “Everyone’s excited to have their own new work space and have it set up the way they want to. The other one was getting a little old and outdated, so there’s more excitement here.”
