SIOUX CENTER—Friday marked one year since Sioux Center Christian School had to send its students home, switching to remote learning for the remainder of the school year.
It was a difficult time for the school’s staff, according to Sioux Center Christian School principal Josh Bowar, but it’s a situation everyone was able to overcome.
“We have much to praise God for as we celebrate how He has carried us through this situation over the past year,” Bowar said. “We’ve been able to do many things, our people have really stepped up, our families have been fantastic partners, our community has been supportive, we have needed minimal mitigations, and we have provided in-person learning the entire school year.”
To celebrate, he organized a one-hour recess time for the whole school on Friday, during which time the Dordt University football team was invited to play with the students while all faculty and staff got to enjoy some Culver’s frozen custard together.
