SIOUX CENTER—About 50 people are ready to light up the night with brightly colored outfits and glow sticks for ProActive Physical Therapy’s Glow Run.
Participants will meet at the All Seasons Center on Saturday, June 8. It begins at 9:30 p.m.
The Glow Run has been done for six years. The 5K and one-mile fun run and walk is not timed and done at night with the assistance of the Sioux Center Fire Department.
It’s a good way for family and friends to be active and have fun, said Julie Arends, ProActive Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab owner and physical therapist.
“We have a lot of groups that do it,” Arends said. “A group of friends will get together and get decked out the same or family members will get together and they’ll do neon T-shirts and glowing gear. We’ve had people with blinking lights. It’s just a really fun atmosphere.”
The fire department makes it all possible through their help in controlling traffic, and so ProActive has proceeds from the event going back to the fire department.
Arends also thanked the hard work of her team at ProActive, especially the work put in by Katelyn Smit and Kristi VanderVeen.
People can still register as late as the day of the event, though the shirts ordered for the event are in limited supply.
The fees are $30 for an adult, $20 for children ages 10 and under and $75 for three or more members of the same family.
