Reflecting on the past school year, I am continually reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness to us through all of the challenges we have faced.
Despite heightened emotions and differences of opinion at times, it is my hope that we can extend grace and understanding to one another knowing that we have all done our best to navigate this past year.
We have so much to be thankful for. God has allowed us to be in school for in-person instruction all year, to worship in our churches, and to participate in activities we enjoy in our community.
God has also provided a medical community that has cared so well for us throughout this year and businesses and services that have stayed open to meet our daily needs.
Our community has stepped up to meet these challenges together, and I have never been more thankful to live in this part of God’s world at this time in His Story.
As we look to summer 2021, I am excited to refocus, reconnect and rest. I desire to embrace the shift in seasons and schedules, intentionally building in margin to each day and creating a bucket list of experiences that will help us to refocus, reconnect and rest as a family, with each other and with our Creator. I challenge you to make a bucket list with your family, as well.
1. Eat outside.
2. Sleep outside.
3. Connect with family, friends and neighbors.
4. Grow something.
5. Read something.
6. Play a new game.
7. Bike or hike a trail.
8. Swim at Siouxnami Waterpark and Sandy Hollow Recreation Area.
9. Watch a movie outside.
10. Technology timeout.
Whatever your bucket list or R and R’s may be for this summer, may it help you restore, refocus, reconnect, rest and relax. It is my hope that we will be ready for all that God has in store for us this summer and beyond.
May we continue to be witnesses to God’s goodness and faithfulness in our community and in our world.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit,” Romans 15:13 (NIV).
God is good all the time, all the time God is good.
