■ 1 pound bulk pork sausage

■ 1 teaspoon dried ground sage

■ 2 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

■ 2 cups all-purpose baking mix

■ 1 apple, peeled and shredded (use a firm apple like Braeburn or Granny Smith)

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In large bowl, mix sausage, sage, cheese, baking mix and apple with hands until well blended. Shape mixture into one-inch balls; place an inch apart on baking sheets.

Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown and no longer pink. Serve warm with honey mustard dipping sauce.

Honey mustard makes a great dipping sauce. Use a three-to-one ratio of Dijon mustard to honey.
