SIOUX CENTER—James “Guy” Leroy Mulder, 76, Sioux Center, died on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at his residence.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Stephen Breen officiating.
Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday.
James “Guy” Leroy Mulder was born on July 18, 1945, to Jacob and Antonia (Van Donkelaar) Mulder. He was the youngest of six children. He graduated from Sioux Center High School.
After high school he worked as a brick layer for DeStigter Brothers until a work-related accident prevented him from working in that trade. He became a cook at the Auto Dine restaurant and worked there until it closed. He later worked in production at Groschopp where he remained for 20 years until he retired. For many years, he was the primary caregiver for his mother before she passed away. He was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, watching sports and visiting with friends and family.
Left to cherish is memory are his sister, Gerdena “Gordie” Deinken; four nephews, Keith (Val) Den Hartog, Steve Den Hartog, Kevin Den Hartog, Brian (Michelle) Deinken; six nieces, Sue (Steve) Punke, Julie (Dave) Pratt, Sandra (Gary) Walker, Barb (Dean) Reckner, Laura (Greg) Van Beek and Darla Malone. He is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Garthurd “Gary” Deinken; brothers and sister-in-law, Anthony Mulder and John (Leona) Mulder; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dora (Erv) Van Zee and Hermina “Snooks” (Howard) Den Hartog.
