LEMARS—Beverly Jane Wilkens, 88, LeMars, formerly of Hawarden, died Sunday, June 2, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society in LeMars. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden. Arrangements are under the direction of Rexwinkel Funeral Home in LeMars.

Beverly Jane DuPlayee was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Chicago, the daughter of Joyce and Thelma (Perry) DuPlayee. She grew up in Chicago before moving to Iowa as a young girl. She attended school in Conrad and graduated from Conrad High School.
She was united in marriage to Glenn Wilkens on Dec. 23, 1949, in Marshalltown. To this union, six children were born. In 1953, they moved to Hawarden, where they farmed. Beverly worked at Coilcraft in Hawarden and later at Mapes Nursing Home in Hawarden and Alcester Nursing and Rehab. They later divorced. In 1989, Beverly moved to LeMars.
Beverly enjoyed knitting afghans for family and friends as well as crocheting. She loved spending time with family.
Beverly is survived by three children: Raymond (Kim) Wilkens of LeMars, Patti (Jake) Van Roekel of Ireton and Doug (Melodee) Wilkens of Hawarden; five grandchildren: Becky (Matt) Taylor, Sara Wilkens, Michael (Jill) Van Roekel, Lisa (Devin) Van Der Brink and Bode Wilkens; seven great-grandchildren: Landon and Ian Taylor, Connor and Lauren Van Roekel, Bailey Holton, Madison and Emma Van Der Brink; and one sister: Betty Runge of Ames.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters: Judy and Vicki; a son: Michael; a granddaughter: Jessica Wilkens; her brother: Verne; and her sister, Barbara.
