O'Brien County sells Sheldon property

O’Brien County has sold a piece of property it had owned in Sheldon. NOYB LLC had the winning bid for the real estate at $195,000 during a public auction Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 15. The property is located at 1220 Second Ave. The county engineer’s office had owned the real estate since 2008. The owners plan to convert the building into a brewery/coffee shop.

SHELDON—The name for Sheldon’s upcoming brewery has been revealed.

According to the agenda for the Wednesday, March 4, Sheldon City Council meeting, Breü Haus LLC is applying for a beer and wine permit. The address listed for Breü Haus is 1220 Second Ave., which is where the brewery/coffee shop will be located.

The project is being developed by sisters Lora Meendering and Tami Vander Veen, who purchased the property at 1220 Second Ave. from O’Brien County for $195,000 during a public auction on Oct. 15.

The county acquired the property — located along the west side of old Highway 60 — in 2008 for about $68,000.

The projected opening day for Breü Haus is this summer.
