RITTER—Both drivers complained of injuries but neither was transported for medical care following a collision about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Ritter.

Seventy-four-year-old Donald Henry Mulder of Ireton was driving west on 280th Street when he ran the stop sign at the Northwest Boulevard intersection due to sun being in his eyes, he told the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.

His 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup collided with a southbound 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by 34-year-old Steven Louis Winter of Ashton.

The Mulder vehicle then struck a camera/light pole in the lot of Farmers Cooperative Society.

The two vehicles came to rest on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks to the west of the intersection.

Mulder was cited with failure to obey a stop sign.

His vehicle was totaled.

The Winter vehicle received an estimated $2,400 damage.

The camera/light pole received an estimated $200 damage.
