IRETON—Two people received minor injuries in a crash involving three vehicles about 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the intersection of 420th Street and Eagle Avenue, four miles north of Ireton.
Kent Allen, 61, Akron, was driving a 2001 Peterbilt semi pulling a livestock trailer east on 420th when he failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by a northbound 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dean Dekkers, 45, Ireton, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
The impact pushed Allen into the westbound lane of 420th where he struck a westbound 2016 Volvo semi pulling a freight trailer and being driven by Tetiana Kalinina, 43, Las Vegas.
Kalinina and Dekkers were transported by the Ireton Ambulance to Sioux Center Health.
Allen was cited for operating a motor vehicle with defective brakes and failing to obey a stop sign.
His Peterbilt received an estimated $20,000 damage.
Kalinina’s Volvo received an estimated $30,000 damage.
Dekkers’ pickup received an estimated $8,000 damage.
