LESTER—Two Rock Rapids residents were cited following the stop of a vehicle about 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, on Highway 9 at near the Elmwood Avenue intersection two miles east of Lester.
A 2019 Hyundai Sonata was stopped after a deputy recognized the driver, 43-year-old Brandy Michelle Ackerman, as having a revoked license, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
When asked about drugs being in the car, 63-year-old Danny Leon Simons, the passenger and registered owner of the car, handed the deputy a sunglass container with marijuana and drug paraphernalia from a bag on top of the center console, according to court documents.
Ackerman was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance — marijuana — third or subsequent offense; driving while her license was denied or revoked; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving while her license was denied, suspended, canceled or revoked; and driving without special insurance.
Simons was cited on charges of possession of a controlled substance — marijuana — third or subsequent offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
