ROCK RAPIDS—Two people face multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop about 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, near Rock Rapids.

The arrests of 46-year-old Don Allen Hughbanks of Sioux Falls, SD, and 38-year-old Kyra Kay Mills of Harris stemmed from the stop of a 2006 Hyundai Sonata for dark window tint on Highway 75 near the 140th Street intersection northwest of Rock Rapids, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

The odor of marijuana was detected and it was found the two were wanted on South Dakota warrants.

The two admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle, according to the incident report.

A marijuana roach and methamphetamine straw were found on the center console.

A meth pipe, a bag of marijuana and a bag of baggies were found in Mills’ purse.

Eight unknown pills also were found in the glove box.

Hughbanks, the driver, was arrested on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, dark window or windshield, and no valid driver’s license.

Mills was arrested on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
