SHELDON—A 19-year-old Ashton woman was arrested Thursday, Oct. 31, on charges of providing false identification information, no valid driver’s license and operating without a registration card or plate in Sheldon.
The arrest of Brittanee Lane Baker stemmed from a stop of a 1998 Ford Taurus for expired registration about 3:45 p.m. that day at the intersection of Seventh Street and Eighth Avenue in Sheldon, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The driver told the trooper she did not have her driver’s license with her, but provided a name and birth date that checked out, so she was given a warning and released.
The trooper later discovered the driver was Baker and that she had provided him the name and birth date of her sister.
When later located in Sheldon, Baker admitted she had lied to the trooper and did not have a valid driver’s license, according to court documents.
