SIOUX CENTER—A Hawarden 19-year-old was arrested about 6:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, in Sioux Center on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest of Kameron Dean Frerichs stemmed from the stop of a 2003 Buick Century at the Shell Sioux-Per Center due to an incident regarding an assault, according to the Sioux Center Police Department.
The strong odor of marijuana could be detected coming from the vehicle.
There was a glass device used for drugs lying on the center console of the vehicle.
Frerichs admitted to smoking marijuana the prior day.
A consent search was performed on the vehicle that revealed marijuana and other drug paraphernalia, according to the incident report.
