LARCHWOOD—A 19-year-old from Lakes Andes, SD, was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, on multiple charges southeast of Larchwood.
The arrest of Kara Lynn Greger stemmed from an investigation into a report of a 2002 Ford Explorer stopped facing the wrong way in the travel portion of the roadway in the 1600 block of 140th Street, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
It was discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Sioux Falls, SD.
The driver initially refused to identify herself. She also refused to exit the vehicle and then tried to drive away, but the deputy was able to reach in to shift the gear shift and turn the ignition key off.
After Greger was handcuffed, she attempted to pull away from the deputy while he was walking her to his patrol vehicle, according to court documents.
Greger eventually said her name was “Becky,” but refused to give a last name or date of birth.
She was charged with second-degree possession of stolen property, interference with official acts, providing false identification information, driving without license, violation of financial liability, stopping on paved portion of roadway, reckless driving and failure to obey traffic control device.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reported investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
