SUV hits rural Orange City house

The driver and a passenger were injured when a 2014 Honda CR-V struck a house about two miles north of Orange City about 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8.

ORANGE CITY—Two people were injured when an SUV struck a house about 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, on Jackson Avenue, two miles north of Orange City.

Thirty-eight-year-old Cody Lee Mulder of Hospers was driving a 2014 Honda CR-V north on the blacktop when he lost control of the vehicle, which entered the east ditch and struck a fence and then a residence, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

Mulder and a passenger were transported by the Orange City Ambulance to Orange City Area Health System.

The homeowners were not present when the accident happened.

Mulder was cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The residence, a one-story home owned by Terry and Mary McMillen, received an estimated $50,000 damage.

The Honda received an estimated $15,000 damage.
