PAULLINA—A 41-year-old Sutherland man was arrested about 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, in Paullina on charges of fraudulent use of registration and driving while his license was denied, suspended, canceled or revoked.

The arrest of Joshua Jay Mahler stemmed from a deputy recognizing Mahler driving a white-colored ambulance, a 1988 Ford Econoline E350, and knowing Mahler’s license was suspended, according to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy pulled Mahler over at the Casey’s in Paullina and during a check of the vehicle’s license plates, it was discovered Mahler had placed valid plates from a blue-colored ambulance he owns on the white ambulance.
