ROCK RAPIDS—A sleepy driver received minor injuries when she crashed her vehicle about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, in Rock Rapids.

Twenty-four-year-old Keisha Marie Van Veldhuizen of Rock Rapids was driving a 2019 Jeep Compass north on Highway 75/Union Street entering Rock Rapids when she fell asleep, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.

Her vehicle left the roadway near 12th Avenue and struck a utility pole and a tree owned by the city of Rock Rapids.

The vehicle received an estimated $8,000 damage.
