ORANGE CITY—A 33-year-old Sheldon man was arrested about 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, in Orange City on charges of second-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest of Brandon Lee Nelson stemmed from a report of him being asleep in his 1996 Buick Le Sabre for more than an hour in the parking lot of Conoco gas station, according to the Orange City Police Department. The caller was unable to wake Nelson.
An officer was able to wake Nelson, who was drowsy and sluggish. A pipe was observed near the center console.
Nelson was asked what it was and he said it was for marijuana.
Asked if he had any marijuana in the vehicle, Nelson provided multiple small bags of marijuana from inside the car, according to the incident report.
