SIOUX CENTER—A 41-year-old Sioux Falls, SD, woman already in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City on multiple charges faces another.
Jewelia Jeanette Drapeau initially was arrested after she was observed as the driver of a 2006 Ford Fusion about 7:40 p.m. Friday, July 9, at the intersection of Second Street North and Main Avenue in Sioux Center, according to the Sioux Center Police Department.
Drapeau had bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary sobriety tests.
She admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages and alcoholic beverages were observed in her vehicle, according to the incident report.
A pipe with burnt marijuana residue also was observed in the vehicle.
Drapeau refused to return to a patrol vehicle when commanded.
She became combative and physically resisted being arrested, spitting on two police officers and refusing to place her legs inside the patrol vehicle, according to the incident report.
Drapeau initially was charged of third-offense operating while under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open container of alcohol as a driver, assault on persons in certain occupations, interference with official acts and driving while her license was denied, suspended, canceled or revoked.
She later was charged with failure to maintain control of her vehicle.
A search warrant later was executed on her vehicle and fentanyl and needles were located.
Drapeau then was charged with possession of a controlled substance — third or subsequent offense on July 18.
