SIOUX CENTER—A 38-year-old Sioux City man faces an additional charge after he was arrested on four Sioux County warrants about 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Econo Lodge in Sioux Center.

The arrest of Christian Lee Wunder Jr. stemmed from an investigation following a report of a burglary and domestic assault at a residence on the 3700 mile of Chestnut Avenue northeast of Hawarden, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

Wunder allegedly broke into the residence by prying open the back door using a tire iron and stayed the weekend of Sept. 13-15.

He and a Rock Valley woman stayed at the residence and eventually got into an argument during which Wunder allegedly grabbed the woman by the back of the head, pulling her hair and pushing her to the ground, according to court records. He also kicked in the windshield of the woman’s vehicle from the inside, breaking it.

Wunder stole six 1921 Morgan silver dollars with an estimated value of $50 each. He also stole men’s and women’s jewelry valued at an estimated $300-$750.

During the arrest, a small glass pipe was located in his back pocket. The pipe had burnt residue and Wunder

admitted to using pipe to ingest methamphetamine, according to court documents.

Wunder was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree theft, fifth-degree criminal mischief, first-offense domestic abuse assault and possession of drug paraphernalia

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department.
