LARCHWOOD—A 22-year-old Sioux City man was arrested about 10:15 p.m. Monday, July 27, near Larchwood on charges of second-offense operating while under the influence, possession of a controlled substance — marijuana — third or subsequent offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest of Israel Jacob Hewitt stemmed from a deputy observing a northbound 2002 Pontiac Bonneville not stopping at the stop sign at the intersection of highways 182 and 9 south of Larchwood, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Hewitt, the driver, admitted to recently consuming marijuana and produced a one-hitter, according to court documents.
A bag of marijuana was found hidden between Hewitt’s seat and the center console during a search.
