SIBLEY—A 21-year-old Sioux City man has been cited for first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in Sibley.

Benjamin Austin Kearney was the driver of a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire stopped for its taillights not working about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the intersection of Ninth Street and Fourth Avenue, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy could smell the odor of marijuana coming from Kearney.

Kearney told the deputy that he had smoked marijuana earlier and that he had a little bit of marijuana and a silicone pipe in the center console of the car, according to court documents.
