IRETON—A 29-year-old Sioux Center man was cited about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, near Ireton on a charge of first-offense operating while under the influence.

The citing of Jeffrey Kyle Stangeland stemmed from an investigation into a report of pickup doing burnouts in Ireton, according to the Hawarden Police Department.

A 2018 Ram 1500 matching the description of the vehicle was stopped for speeding on Eagle Avenue, about two miles north of Ireton.

Stangeland, the driver, had slurred speech and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary sobriety tests.
