SIOUX CENTER—A 35-year-old Sioux Center man was arrested about 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, possession of an open container of alcohol as a driver and no valid driver’s license.
The arrest of Elasar Ramos Cash stemmed from a call to the Shell Sioux-Per Center regarding a possible intoxicated driver in a 2009 Mazda 6, according to the Sioux Center Police Department.
The caller said Ramos Cash was in the business and an officer observed him exit the store and get into Mazda and start it, according to the incident report.
A 12-pack of opened Corona bottles was in the back seat and an opened bottle was in the front cup holder.
Ramos Cash had bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage.
He said he had consumed several beers, according to the incident report.
