SIOUX CENTER—A 23-year-old Sioux Center man was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, possession or carrying of dangerous weapons while under the influence and improper use of lanes.
The arrest of Zachary Dean Van Den Top stemmed from the stop of a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero for driving through designated parking spaces along First Avenue Northeast, according to the Sioux Center Police Department.
He had bloodshot, watery eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary sobriety tests.
Van Den Top also admitted to consuming alcohol, according to the incident report.
He also was in possession of a loaded Taurus 1911 handgun.
