SHELDON—A Sheldon woman was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 26, after she allegedly stole a purse, according to the Sheldon Police Department.

Megan Sue Johnson, 19, is accused of taking a purse that was sitting on the sidewalk in front of Uptown Threads — a Consignment Boutique in downtown Sheldon at around 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, according to court records.

The victim had sat the purse down to take a photograph.

After taking the purse, Johnson, who lives in an apartment above the store, is said to have spent $150 at various businesses in Sheldon. The victim is requesting $150 in restitution money that was unable to be recovered.

Johnson was charged with fifth-degree theft and was taken into custody at the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar. She was released a little before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
