SHELDON—During its regularly scheduled meeting 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, the Sheldon School District Board of Education will discuss scheduled construction projects that will come out of the district’s physical plant and equipment levy (PPEL) and Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) funding sources.

According to the meeting agenda, superintendent Cory Myer is expected to discuss scheduled improvement projects, including renovations of Sheldon High School’s softball field and the installation of additional playground equipment at East Elementary School.

The district has planned a $40,000 groundwork project for the softball field and a $30,000 swing set project planned for East Elementary School. The money for the projects would come out of the district’s PPEL fund.

Myer also is expected to recommend the board appoint Tracy Meyer as the board secretary-treasurer and designate Sheldon Middle School Principal Cindy Barwick as equity coordinator for the 2019-20 academic year.

The board will also consider approving:

  • A schedule for board meetings during the 2019-20 academic year.
  • The district’s partnership agreements with Northwest Iowa Community College.
  • A human resources director operational sharing agreement with George-Little Rock, Harris-Lake Park, Sibley-Ocheyedan and Boyden-Hull.
