SHELDON—A 22-year-old Sheldon man was cited about 8:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The citing of Trey Lee Norton stemmed from the stop of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am for not stopping at a stop sign on the 600 block of Seventh Avenue, according to the Sheldon Police Department.
A marijuana grinder was observed in the car, and in a subsequent search of the vehicle, a pipe containing marijuana residue was located.
Norton, a passenger, said the pipe belonged to him, according to the incident report.
While photographing the paraphernalia as evidence at the police station after the traffic stop, officers discovered the pipe had a hidden compartment containing marijuana.
