SHELDON—A 20-year-old Sheldon man was arrested about 8 p.m. Monday, March 20, on O’Brien County warrants for disorderly conduct — fighting/violent behavior and reckless driving.
The arrest of Shawn Ryan Rutzen stemmed from an altercation with a female about 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, outside the convenience store at Sheldon Plaza, according to the Sheldon Police Department.
The altercation was witnessed by several people who said Rutzen yelled at the female and then shoved her. The incident was recorded on video and showed them both partaking in violent behavior toward each other in front of the store.
Rutzen also was witnessed pulling out of the parking area and speeding off while the female was in the front seat trying to exit the vehicle with the door wide open.
Rutzen admitted the female was trying to exit the vehicle, but he did not stop, according to the incident report.
Warrants for his arrest were issued March 18.
