SHELDON—A 36-year-old Sheldon man faces multiple charges after he assaulted another man with a club about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1.

The Sheldon Police Department reported the arrest of Scott Lee Smith stemmed from him forcing his way into a unit at Northpark Apartments and assaulting the resident, trying to collect money for a friend, according to the victim.

Smith got on top of the resident while the other man was face down and used a wooden club or stick to pull and push his head, according to the incident report.

Smith was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary, trespassing resulting in injury or damage greater than $300, willful injury — causing bodily injury, and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.
