SIBLEY—A 51-year-old rural Rock Rapids man was arrested about 3:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, possession of an open container of alcohol and driving while his license is suspended in Sibley.

The arrest of Mark Allen Dirks stemmed from the stop of a 2005 Hummer for an equipment violation on Second Street Northeast near the Ninth Avenue intersection, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Dirks had bloodshot, watery eyes, the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary field sobriety tests, according to court documents.

He also eventually admitted to drinking six beers, including one that he finished as he was being pulled over.
