PRIMGHAR—One person was killed and two others were injured in an SUV-ATV collision about 3:20 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at a gravel intersection near Primghar.
Sixty-one-year-old Jerome “Jerry” Milo Schueller of rural Primghar was driving a Polaris Ranger 900 west on 380th Street when the all-terrain vehicle was struck by a northbound 1999 Chevrolet Blazer driven by 40-year-old Joshua Jay Mahler of Sutherland at the Roosevelt Avenue intersection a mile northwest of Primghar, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Both vehicles entered the northwest ditch and became engulfed in fire.
Schueller, who lived about a mile and a half northeast of the crash site, was transported by the Paullina Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
An 8-year-old male and a 6-year-old male were injured.
No injuries were reported to Mahler.
The Iowa State Patrol and O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.
The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team, Sanborn Ambulance and Primghar Fire & Rescue also assisted.
The accident was the second one involving a motor vehicle resulting in a fatality in O’Brien County this year.
