SIBLEY—No one was injured but there was an estimated $20,500 damage when a pickup struck the convenience store at Jackrabbit Junction in Sibley on Friday afternoon, July 12.

Ninety-year-old Glenn Lorraine Doorenbos of Sibley was driving a 2010 Ford F-150, entering a parking space on the east side of the store about 2:55 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Doorenbos told authorities when he started pushing the brake pedal to stop, he also had his foot on the gas pedal.

The pickup then crashed into the east side of the building and struck an ice machine ton the sidewalk along the east wall of the building.

The impact from the vehicle caused damage to the ceiling inside of the kitchen of Champs Chicken as well as the kitchen equipment.

The convenience store received an estimated $20,000 damage.

The pickup received an estimated $500 damage.
