ORANGE CITY—An Orange City man was arrested Thursday, Oct. 4, on charges of possession of a controlled substance for a third or subsequent time, possession of marijuana for a third or subsequent time and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest of Daryl Lewis Dailey Jr. stemmed from a complaint about 11 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, of the odor of marijuana coming from an apartment at 321 Delaware Ave. S.W. in Orange City, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
An investigating deputy could smell the odor coming from the apartment and it became stronger when Dailey opened the door.
Dailey admitted he had been smoking marijuana and said he would give law enforcement his marijuana pipes but would not allow a search of his apartment, according to court documents.
When a deputy started to apply for a search warrant, Dailey consented to a search. A scale and two grinders were found in addition to two glass pipes provided by Dailey earlier.
A safe also was seized and a search warrant was issued for it. Methamphetamine, a glass pipe used to smoke meth, glass pipes used to smoke marijuana with residue in them, vape pens containing a liquid consistent with THC oil and a black silicone container containing a brown substance consistent with THC oil were found inside the safe.
