IRETON—One person was injured in a collision about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the intersection of Eagle Avenue and Highway 10, one mile north of Ireton.
Nineteen-year-old Russell Jacob Coons of Ireton was driving west on the highway when he attempted to turn south onto Eagle and his 2003 GMC pickup struck an eastbound 2003 Chevrolet pickup pulling a car transport trailer, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
Fifty-year-old Corwyn Wayne Vander Veen of Orange City reported minor injuries but declined further medical attention.
Coons was cited for failure to yield upon a making a left turn.
The Vander Veen vehicle received an estimated $10,000 damage. The Coons vehicle received an estimated $6,000 damage.
