ROCK RAPIDS—One person received minor injuries in a collision about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the intersection of Highway 9 and Fir Avenue about four miles west of Rock Rapids.
Fifty-seven-year-old Jacquez Mantel Johnson of Sioux City was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Express G2500 van owned by Spee-Dee Delivery Service of St. Cloud, MN, south on Fir when he failed to stop at the stop sign and his vehicle collided with a 1992 Ford Ranger pickup driven by 51-year-old Juan Ramon Gonzalez of Luverne, MN, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision sent the two vehicles into the south ditch.
Gonzalez was transported by the Lyon County Ambulance to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.
Johnson, who was not injured, was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.
Gonzalez was cited for failure to provide proof of vehicle liability insurance and operation of a motor vehicle with an expired license.
The two vehicles were totaled.
