ASHTON—One person received minor injuries when a van struck a grain wagon about 9:25 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, on the Highway 60 expressway about two miles south of Ashton.
Twenty-five-year-old Shea Brianne Driesen of Sheldon was driving a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country south when she told authorities she dropped her cellphone and was reaching for it when she struck the back of a gravity wagon being pulled by a 2015 Case Maxxum tractor being driven by 35-year-old Justin Alan Jacobs, of Rushmore, MN, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
The van hit the left corner of the wagon then swerved left into the median.
Driesen was transported by the Sibley Ambulance to Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley. No other injuries were reported.
Driesen was cited for following too closely. Her vehicle received an estimated $6,000 damage. The wagon received an estimated $3,000 damage.
The Ashton Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
