Pickups collide

One person was injured when two pickups collided about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the gravel intersection of Hickory Avenue and 410th Street, one mile east of Sioux Center.

SIOUX CENTER—One person was injured when two pickups collided about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the gravel intersection of Hickory Avenue and 410th Street, one mile east of Sioux Center.

Twenty-eight-year-old Trevor Gene Engeltjes of Everly was driving a 2006 Ford F-350 pulling a stock trailer north on Hickory Avenue when he collided with a westbound 2007 Ford F-150 driven by 17-year-old Pieter Westerbeek V of Sioux Center, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

Westerbeek was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health.

Engeltjes was cited for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right and operation without registration card or plate.

The Westerbeek pickup received an estimated $25,000 damage. The Engeltjes pickup received an estimated $20,000 damage.
