SIOUX CENTER—One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident about 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, on Highway 75, one mile south of Sioux Center.
Seventeen-year-old Caleb Matthew Sandbulte of Sioux Center was driving north when his 2014 Ford F-150 pickup struck the rear of a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 32-year-old Zachariah Edwin Kurtz of Sioux City, who was stopped for a vehicle ahead of him that was attempting to turn left onto 420th Street, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
Sandbulte was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health and later airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
No other injuries were reported.
The Sandbulte vehicle received an estimated $16,000 damage. The Kurtz vehicle received an estimated $13,000 damage.
