ALTON—One person received minor injuries in a collision about 11:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at the intersection of the Highway 60 expressway and Kingbird Avenue, two miles northeast of Alton.
Twenty-eight-year-old Juan Salazar of Alta was driving north on Kingbird when he failed to stop at the stop sign for the expressway, entered the intersection and his 1999 Dodge Caravan collided with a northeastbound 2000 Peterbilt semi pulling a freight trailer, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
Salazar was transported by the Alton Ambulance to Orange City Area Health System.
He was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Salazar’s vehicle received an estimated $3,000 damage.
The Peterbilt, driven by 42-year-old Christopher Miller of O’Neill, NE, received an estimated $6,000 damage.
