SIOUX CENTER—No injuries were reported in a collision involving a Sioux Center School District bus about 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at the intersection of 380th Street and Garfield Avenue, three miles west of Sioux Center.
Sixty-three-year-old Gary Duane Van Engelenhoven of Sioux Center was driving a 2021 Thomas school bus east on 380th Street, a gravel road, when he stopped for the stop sign at Garfield Avenue, a blacktop, and then entered the intersection, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
The bus collided with a northbound 2012 Ford Escape driven by 65-year-old Diane Lynn Grom of Rock Valley.
No students were on the bus at the time.
Van Engelenhoven was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.
The bus received an estimated $100. The Grom vehicle received an estimated $1,000 damage.
