HAWARDEN—No one was injured in a crash that resulted in an estimated $35,000 damage to the two vehicles involved about 3:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at the intersection of 420th Street and Birch Avenue, one mile north of Hawarden.
Twenty-three-old Blake Westcott Riepma of Ireton was driving a westbound 1996 International semitractor pulling a trailer on 420th Street when he failed to yield for the stop sign at Birch and collided with a southbound 2001 Volvo semitractor pulling a trailer driven by 53-year-old John Bernard Goebel of Philip, SD, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
Riepma was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way.
His International received an estimated $5,000 damage.
Goebel’s trailer received an estimated $30,000 damage.
