ROCK RAPIDS—A 21-year-old Nebraskan faces several charges after he was found with marijuana as a passenger in a vehicle stopped for speeding about 7:50 p.m. Saturday, July 27, on Highway 75 about three miles south of Rock Rapids.
The arrest of Braxton Joe Coleman of Lincoln, NE, stemmed from the stop of a 2002 Ford Escort clocked at 83 mph in a 55-mph zone, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities discovered a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe on Coleman when the pipe fell out of his pants.
Coleman was charged with first-offense possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of an open container of alcohol.
The driver, 18-year-old Samuel S. Tuach Tor of Lincoln, NE, was cited for speeding.
