ROCK VALLEY—A 23-year-old Sioux Center man was arrested Sunday night, Sept. 27, near Rock Valley on charges of first-offense operating while under the influence, failure to report a property damage accident resulting in more than $1,000 damage and no valid driver’s license.
The arrest of Edgar Ubaldo Morales-Lopez stemmed from a report about a black car that came onto a yard on Dogwood Avenue west of Rock Valley about 8:25 p.m., according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle struck a flagpole and then continued south before coming to a stop on the 3300 mile of Dogwood due to receiving disabling damage.
Morales-Lopez admitted to driving the car, a 2011 BMW 535, according to the incident report.
He was unsteady, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage and failed preliminary sobriety tests.
